the order we attempt to establish through our goals
Whether we are happy depends on our inner harmony
the chaos of the world as we experience it
what we would like to accomplish before we die
comfort and dignity
with affluence and power come escalating expectations
enjoy the struggle along the way
derive pleasure from the present
making those around them also a bit more happy
Such individuals lead vigorous lives, are open to a variety of experiences, keep on learning to the day they die, and have strong ties and commitments to other people and to the environment in which they live.
enjoy whatever they do

Finally finished re-reading The Dark Is Rising series by Susan Cooper.

this long-worked land so many centuries on the anvil
[the Dark] will rise not through the spilling of blood but through the coldness in the hearts of men
with good attention
this world and all its perilous beauty
retreated into an unseeing happiness
lost the pattern ofyour life
Every human being who loves another loves imperfection.
a half-smile that held no happiness, but great affection
the astonishing burden
the evil that is inside men is at the last a matter for men to control
fierce caring
in so brave a world
the melancholy of parting
